- Child Care and Protection Index - 1817 to 1942 This index combines: Mittagong Farm home for Boys (1907-1921); Randwick Asylum for Destitute Children (1852-1915); Orphan schools records (1817-1886) and Industrial schools records (1867-1942).
- Dependent children registers 1883-1923 These records relate to children who were admitted to State care between 1883 and 1923. They record where the dependent children were placed (whether with foster parents or guardians). Some of the children were eventually adopted.
- Maintenance registers - Metropolitan Children's Court 1915-1917 The role of the Court was to hear and determine cases of offences committed by or against children.
- Wages paid to orphans Between 1848 and 1850, around 4,100 young Irish women who came to Australia as part of Earl Grey’s Famine Orphan Scheme. Recruited from workhouses in Ireland, the women became an integral part of the workforce in their adopted country.

- Ward of the State and Care Leaver Records Adoption records are closed to public access for a period of 99 years from their creation to protect privacy
- Hospital patient records Hospitals kept various records about the patients in their care, from simple lists of who was a patient to detailed medical notes about treatment. These archived records are mostly from hospitals that have now closed except for the Royal Women’s Hospital which is still operating.
